The Need:
In Colorado's Jefferson County, over 30,000 children benefit from subsidized meals at school. However, some of these children may encounter empty cupboards at home, at night, and over the weekend, leading to instances of hunger.
Who We Are:
We operate as a mobile grocery, providing weekly assistance to over 30 schools and Section 8 apartments in Jefferson County throughout the year (including Summer months)
Event Description:
- Help Jeffco Eats deliver our Tuesday and/or Thursday school orders 1-2 times a month!
- Time commitment: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
- We deliver to 10-12 different pre-arranged schools each day.
- Dollies and wagons are used to load and unload the food orders.
- You will be given a printed delivery schedule with all the needed information to contact each school with an ETA and what you will be delivering.
- No special driver’s license is needed. Insurance coverage is provided.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
- Ability to drive, load and unload a 14 ft truck.
- Available Tuesday or Thursday mornings between 8am-12pm
- Wear casual/comfy work clothes, close-toed shoes, and work gloves are highly recommended.
