A group of 4-8 volunteers are needed for a 2 hour shift to help sort incoming donations. Organize your own group of co-workers, neighbors, friends, book club or any other associations you have for a social and impactful volunteer experience. This role is essential to keeping the Clothes To Kids of Denver shop fully stocked which gives families the most variety to meet their needs.
Both teen and adult volunteers process incoming clothing donations by sorting, sizing, tagging, and hanging clothing needed to restock the store. Other tasks include unpackaging socks and underwear. The tasks can be highly repetitive. Some people love sorting and organizing but it isn't for everyone.
- This position requires great attention to detail to make sure we are outfitting the students we serve with high quality clothing.
- Volunteers should be good at following instructions.
- Greet clothing donors.
- Keep the store organized and tidy which may include straightening clothing racks, sorting hangers, taking out the recycling or moving boxes/crates.
- Help with special deliveries or projects.
Volunteers should be prepared to stand for the duration of their shift. Comfortable shoes are important. Physical activities include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting less than 30 pounds.
About Clothes To Kids of Denver
At CTKD, we give free school clothes to students in-need or in-crisis. Our goal is to help students in preschool through 12th grade have the clothing they need to feel comfortable, confident and prepared to thrive. We know that when students are dressed in clothes that they feel good about, they are more likely to attend school, participate in classroom activities and make positive connections with their classmates.
Our store stocks a wide selection of high quality, gently used clothing donated by the community. Students get to "shop" in a warm and welcoming space where they can select the seasonal and stylish wardrobe pieces that meet their needs. Each wardrobe is a week's worth of school clothes - 21 pieces - and it is all FREE. Our goal is always to reach as many students as we can. This year we are helping over 13,000 students receive the clothing they need to dress for success. We cannot do this work without strong community support so thank you for helping make this happen!
