Description

Volunteers will teach material necessary for students to pass the U.S. Citizenship test. Classes are open to all people interested in learning more about U.S. government. Volunteers will attend citizenship teacher training events. Volunteers will plan simple lesson plans with materials provided by library staff.

 

Qualifications: Experience teaching or leading adult groups. 

Additional Qualifications:

  1. Interest in U.S. history and Government
  2. Experience leading an adult group
  3. Flexibility
  4. Patience
  5. Enthusiasm about the program
  6. Positive outlook
  7. Commitment to come once a month ready to help people prepare for this important step

Training: 

  1. One-hour overview of the citizenship test viewed online at the library or at home.
  2. Individual time to become familiar with the test and teaching materials.
  3. Observing the ongoing class.
