Participate in shaping the organization’s strategic direction and priorities. Contribute to discussions and decisions on policies, programs, and initiatives that align with CWF’s mission. Monitor the organization’s performance to ensure it fulfills its mission and operates in compliance with legal and ethical standards. Provide financial oversight by reviewing budgets, financial reports, and resource allocation. Act as an ambassador for CWF by promoting its mission and initiatives to the public, community leaders, and potential supporters. Engage in advocacy efforts to protect Colorado’s natural resources and wildlife. Support fundraising efforts by assisting with donor cultivation, hosting and attending events, and making personal contributions. Help identify potential funding opportunities and partnerships. Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (held bimonthly) and the annual full-day meeting. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and staff, providing input and expertise as needed. A strong interest in conservation, wildlife, or environmental issues. Familiarity with nonprofit organizations or a willingness to learn about nonprofit governance. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including fellow Board members, staff, and external stakeholders. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication abilities to share ideas, represent CWF, and inspire others. A demonstrated passion for conserving Colorado’s natural resources and a commitment to advancing CWF’s mission. Attend bimonthly Board meetings and the annual meeting. Dedicate 5–10 hours per month to Board-related activities, including meetings, outreach, and special projects. Participate in one of the Board committees. Actively participate in at least one event, fundraising campaign, or advocacy initiative annually. Serve a standard Board term of three years, with the option for renewal as outlined in CWF bylaws. As a Board Member, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of conservation in Colorado. Your contributions will ensure that CWF remains a strong, effective voice for protecting the state’s wildlife and natural habitats for generations to come.
