About Huerta Urbana: Support Focus Points' urban farm and seasonal pay-what-you-can market! Huerta Urbana is an urban agriculture training program, farming 1 acre of land in the Globeville, Elyria-Swansea (GES) neighborhood. Participants collaborate with Huerta staff to maintain the farm, harvest produce, and further their knowledge in the industry.
The Huerta Urbana Farmer's Market runs on Fridays from June - October. By offering locally grown produce at an affordable price, the team ensures that all market shoppers can access healthy food regardless of their socioeconomic status.
Join us on most Fridays from June - October as we prepare for Huerta Urbana Farmer's Market.
Training and Tasks: Volunteers will support our free produce bags program, which is offered to Denver families experiencing food insecurity at the weekly farmer's market. Upon arrival, Focus Points staff will offer on-site training to volunteers while providing ongoing support throughout the experience. Potential tasks include sorting and packing produce, cleaning prep stations, and placing tables for the farmer's market.
Dress Code: Focus Points is a family resource center, so we ask that volunteers come prepared with comfortable and appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. Bottoms must be knee-length or longer, and tops should cover the chest.
Upon registration, please sign and submit the volunteer waiver to Jazlynne@focuspoints.org.
