La Veta Village Food Services

La Veta Village Food Services is the only food pantry in the greater La Veta, CO area, which covers the town of La Veta and extends into the surrounding adjacent areas of Huerfano County. We are a grassroots, volunteer-based organization with 30+ volunteers, 1 part-time coordinator, and 3 leaders. The organization was formed early in the COVID-19 pandemic by community members to serve those who were vulnerable during the pandemic. As the emergency-level waned, the need for food did not. La Veta is a small, rural town with low-income, elderly, and families with children. By building community, our primary goal is to eliminate food insecurity.

In the La Veta, CO area, we distribute quality food boxes monthly from the La Veta Town Hall, host the Care and Share Mobile Market for no-cost groceries, and grocery shop weekly for the elderly or homebound.
