Who We Are

The Castle Rock Senior Center opened in 1971 as a private seniors club. The Center incorporated in 1992 and has evolved into a community focal point, resource, and activity center to meet the increasing and changing needs of those age 50 and older in the Town of Castle Rock and surrounding Douglas County region. As a 51-year-old 501(c)3 not for profit organization, the Center provides services and programming to help older adults "age in place" living independent, connected and fulfilled lives. The center serves approximately 2,000 area residents and older adults who are visiting family in the area. A Board of Directors and small staff preside over the operations and are supported by the many volunteers who provide needed support for the day-to-day and long-term functioning. Volunteers contribute numerous hours each year to operate the programs and services. The Center has been recognized as a model program and has provided technical assistance to other centers throughout the country.

What We Do

This past year has been a whirlwind of growth throughout many of our programs.  With over 160 + activities/events each month our seniors have no problem finding ways to stay active.  Our activities range from educational, to social, to health and recreational programs; as well creating a wonderful environment to meet people and explore a variety of options to stay active and involved.  In addition, we provide a transportation program for seniors and disabled residents to meet their medical appointments, grocery trips and nutritional needs.   We are also a Volunteers of America nutritional meal service site and the coordinating site for the Douglas County Meals on Wheels Program.  This is very important, as the number of homebound residents needing this service continues to grow.

We continue to see requests for services continue to rise - from transportation to activities to health and wellness programs.  We also know that socialization and volunteering opportunities are also very important to our older adults. Our programs are educational in nature and offer activities, fitness, nutrition options, massage therapy, reflexology, art therapy, and educational topics to engage this vast age demographic.  In addition, we offer sports programs and fitness activities which include golf, bowling, pickleball, tennis, hiking and softball leagues.  In 2024 alone, over 350 volunteers served the Center by helping organize fundraising events and worked on many of our activities and programs, acted as lunchroom servers or meals on wheels delivery drivers, and helped with community events hosted by other organizations.  This equated to over 25,000 volunteer hours.  The Center could not operate at the level it does without the generous hours of volunteer service we receive from our senior residents.
