The Westminster Police Department is seeking applicants for Volunteer Victim Advocates. This position responds to victims of crime and personal tragedy to provide crisis intervention, support, and important information. You will be dispatched to respond to crime scenes, the police department or hospitals to provide direct services after Law Enforcement Officers have secured the scene. You will receive advocacy training and shadow a veteran advocate before working on your own. Advocates act in an on-call capacity nights and weekends and each advocate works three, 12 hour shifts. Receive specialized training through our highly acclaimed Victim Advocate Academy. Receive full funding to apply and receive your certification through the Colorado Advocate Certification Program (CACP). The satisfaction of knowing you are helping some of the most vulnerable in society. Every shift is different, as your responsibilities change from case-to-case, and each victim will have gone through a different experience which requires varied levels of support. Fill hours for college credit for degrees in psychology, forensic psychology, social work, sociology, or criminal justice.This is a great volunteer opportunity to collaborate with Law Enforcement and for those with an interest in Criminal Justice and a desire to give back to the community.

Volunteer: Delta County Farm to School VISTA
The F2S Program Coordinator VISTA will be involved in curriculum development, program planning, building sustainability for programming, recruiting and managing volunteers, fundraising, and ongoing professional development. They will engage youth and community members to build, maintain, and expand school gardens through a start-to-finish growing season. They will coordinate educational programs with 8 schools during the school year and educational programs throughout the summer. Programs include farm field trips, guest visits, summer camps, garden clubs, and youth farmers markets. Members provide outreach and engagement at community events to promote Farm to School and the organization’s programs and mission. The Farm to School program addresses poverty through providing equitable access to healthy and local foods, connecting students and youth to the earth and their community, and by providing educational opportunities and classes.
Member Duties:
The F2S VISTA will serve alongside staff and administration to develop, fund, and launch culturally-relevant curriculum and school food and garden programs.
The VISTA will serve alongside the AmeriCorps Garden Educators to effectively and efficiently build out the Farm to School program through curriculum development, recruitment and retainment of volunteers, and fund development.
The F2S Program Coordinator VISTA will also strengthen systems for efficiency and sustainability of food access programs, including localizing the procurement and purchasing of local produce and expanding on-site gardens based on produce needs, by serving in conjunction with school staff and community volunteers.
Qualifications:
Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national or a lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.
High school diploma or GED required; must be at least 18 years old
Pass required criminal background checks, including a National Sex Offender Website search, to serve with at-risk or vulnerable populations. AmeriCorps service is contingent on passing these background checks. If background checks have not been resolved by the conclusion of a member’s training, they will be placed on administrative hold until they meet the clearance threshold.
Be willing and able to complete 1700 required hours of service (52 weeks) by April 9, 2024.

Volunteer: CRC Fund Development VISTABecome part of a high-performing, fast-paced development and fundraising team! The Fund Development Associate VISTA will increase CRC’s capacity through strategic development planning, research, writing, and strengthening the development infrastructure at CRC by tracking interactions, engagement and cultivation of clients, partners, and donors. Greater financial stability will allow for more individuals to access resources provided by CRC to alleviate poverty. Member duties: 1.) The VISTA will strategically engage and partner with other VISTA members, staff members, nonprofits, funders, and individual donors to increase funding for CRC 2.) The VISTA will effectively write and apply for funding to support CRC. 3.) The VISTA will support organizational fund development through the implementation of lead generation, fund development, and donor retention strategies.
Member Duties:
The VISTA will support fund development by:
Research prospective corporate, state government, and foundation grants that align with CRC;
Utilize CRC’s funding data to develop a comprehensive map of funding opportunities;
Coordinate the development of metrics that will track conversion rates and donor acquisition costs;
Make recommendations on practices, metrics, and the overall return on investment for fund development strategies;
Gain skills through training in grant writing for nonprofits and community organizations to better serve CRC;
Draft, review, and edit grant narratives and reports;
Utilize successful funding request materials to develop long-standing master grant documents;
Identify and apply for diverse funding opportunities;
Collaborate with to develop a CRC annual Colorado Gives Day campaign;
Implement donor engagement and appreciation opportunities;
Evaluate the success of CRC’s individual donor engagement based on 2022 end of year giving.
Qualifications:
Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national or a lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.
High school diploma or GED required; must be at least 18 years old
Pass required criminal background checks, including a National Sex Offender Website search, to serve with at-risk or vulnerable populations. AmeriCorps service is contingent on passing these background checks. If background checks have not been resolved by the conclusion of a member’s training, they will be placed on administrative hold until they meet the clearance threshold.
Be willing and able to complete 1700 required hours of service (52 weeks) by April 9, 2024.

Volunteer: Housing Set-Up VolunteerOnce we know a family or individual will be served by our office we work to secure their housing and ensure that their home is set up and ready to welcome them upon their arrival. We rely on volunteers and various community groups to help with housing set-ups.
Volunteers will help set up a home for a newly-arriving refugee family or individual. Volunteers will be added to an on-call list and receive 1-3 emails per week. Volunteers respond to the opportunities that work best for their schedule.
Location: Varies throughout the Denver/Aurora-metro area. Time Commitment: On-call/as needed. (volunteers choose only the opportunities that fit with their schedules) Housing set-ups typically take place Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Mentors may also support in opening bank accounts, learning where to pay bills, navigating transportation, and more. Mentors and mentees will establish boundaries and expectations in an initial meeting with an IRC staff member and interpreter in order to better understand needs.
Location: Off-site in the Denver Metro, Aurora, or Northglenn area (exact location disclosed to volunteer). Time Commitment: This position connects you to one family or individual client for six-months. We request 2-4 hours per week, depending on client’s needs. Skills & Qualifications: The Mentor must have a strong desire to work with diverse populations and demonstrate patience with English language learners. They may need access to a vehicle. Mentors should be willing to help teach clients to utilize public transportation, access different community resources and facilitate other activities geared towards achieving self-sufficiency. If you have a language skill and/or community connection of a different client population, please reach out. We encourage those who speak Dari, Farsi, or Pashto or come from the Afghan community to support at this time. Please note that volunteers must undergo a background check for which we ask a donation of $49. A Kicks For Kids shoe drive is a great fit for businesses, schools, scout troops, sports teams, clubs, religious communities and service organizations wanting to make a BIG difference! Individuals are welcome to host one too with friends, neighbors, family or anyone else in your circle. We accept many styles of shoes but no formal wear or flip flops. Shoe donations don't need to be new but do need to be in great condition, clean and ready to wear. If the soles are worn bare or there are holes or are dirty, please find another home for them. We accept shoe sizes from Youth 8 through adult size 17. We have more details to share but here are the highlights... 1. Pick a timeframe that works for you. 2. Promote your drive by educating the community about what we do and why we need their help. 3. Create appealing collection bins that are well labeled and easily accessible. 4. Each student receives a wardrobe that is a week's worth of school clothes - 21 pieces - and it is all FREE. In a year, we give away over 10,000 wardrobes to students around the Denver Metro area. We cannot do this work without strong community support so thank you for helping make this happen! Hosting a bin comes with some responsibilities that are great fit for schools, civic organizations and businesses. We ask the volunteers serving as Bin Champions to... You will receive regular updates from CTKD about our greatest needs and current events. Share our Donation Guidelines so your donors give items suitable for our purposes. Advocate for CTKD in your community. Educate everyone - customers, families, participants, members - about our mission with the goal of collecting as much high-quality clothing as possible. As a bonus, you also get the word out that we are here to help families who may need us. Collect clothing regularly by making the bin easily accessible. Our boutique stocks a wide selection of stylish, high quality, gently used clothing so all clothing donations need to be in great condition, current styles appealing to kids and teens, clean and ready to wear. Deliver your donations to the CTKD store. Empty the bin as often as necessary but at least once a month. Bin Dimensions & Placement The dimensions of the bin are 48" tall and 24" square. It is on wheels and easy to move. It is made of metal but is not weatherproof and intended for indoor use. There may be some cases when it can be outdoors if it is well protected from the elements and secure. These are exceptions. The bin can be placed for a period of a minimum of 3 months up to 12 months or more. We will work with you to determine what the best time frame is. It is on wheels and easy to move. It is made of metal but is not weatherproof and intended for indoor use. There may be some cases when it can be outdoors if it is well protected from the elements and secure. These are exceptions. The bin can be placed for a period of a minimum of 3 months up to 12 months or more. We will work with you to determine what the best time frame is. Handlers must provide proof of therapy dog vaccinations, liability insurance and all certifications. Handler will remain with their therapy dog at all times while on RMHC property.
