Volunteers are needed at our specialized adult day program, which operates weekdays. This can include assisting with clients during group activities, helping serve lunch, assisting clients on a field trip into the community, outdoor and indoor maintenance, and even teaching a class on a topic of your personal interest and skill.

Volunteers assist at our hydrotherapy (water exercise) programs held weekdays around the Metro area. This can include assisting participants in the dressing room, assisting with the hydraulic lifts to get clients in and out of the pool, assisting in the water, or assisting with refreshments following the exercise program.

You can volunteer to plan and implement one of our special events. This can include our annual Gala, MS4MS over the summer, third-party fundraising events, and many more! Volunteers help with planning, fundraising, promoting, setting up, and with general coordination of these events.

Sometimes they wish to be prayed for in person, sometimes they prefer to have their request written down and prayed for as the Prayer Team goes through the prayer requests.

The Westminster Police Department is seeking applicants for Volunteer Victim Advocates. This position responds to victims of crime and personal tragedy to provide crisis intervention, support, and important information. You will be dispatched to respond to crime scenes, the police department or hospitals to provide direct services after Law Enforcement Officers have secured the scene. You will receive advocacy training and shadow a veteran advocate before working on your own. Advocates act in an on-call capacity nights and weekends and each advocate works three, 12 hour shifts.

This is a great volunteer opportunity to collaborate with Law Enforcement and for those with an interest in Criminal Justice and a desire to give back to the community.

The Family Stabilization Program (FSP) is comprised of mental health professionals who provide personalized, holistic, one-on-one support services for clients experiencing safety and stability issues in multiple areas of their lives. We empower clients with the skills needed to navigate systems, overcome barriers, and manage the difficult moments in their lives.

Scope of Work:

The FSP volunteer will have the opportunity to work with our most vulnerable refugees from diverse backgrounds and will learn to use trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches to support clients in resource navigation and transportation efforts. Volunteers can expect to work with 1-2 families at a time depending on availability and number of hours.

Volunteer Benefits:

1. Volunteer will gain a working knowledge of how resettlement programs at the IRC support clients to achieve mental and physical wellbeing.

2. Volunteer will gain a working knowledge of how to practice trauma informed care and de-escalation techniques.

Time Commitment:  This position connects you to one family or individual client for six-months. We request 2-4 hours per week, depending on client’s needs.   

Skills & Qualifications: 

The Mentor must have a strong desire to work with diverse populations and demonstrate patience with English language learners. They may need access to a vehicle. Mentors should be willing to help teach clients to utilize public transportation, access different community resources and facilitate other activities geared towards achieving self-sufficiency. If you have a language skill and/or community connection of a different client population, please reach out. We encourage those who speak Dari, Farsi, or Pashto or come from the Afghan community to support at this time.

Tutors are needed to help students with their math homework in 5th-12th grades. CABPES offers math tutoring on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vega Collegiate Academy at 1400 Yosemite Street, Aurora, CO.

Coaching is an on-going intentional conversation that empowers a person to fully live out God’s calling. This journey of self-discovery is facilitated through a gentle questioning approach that allows clients to rediscover their values, motivators, hopes and dreams. Clients are encouraged to take ownership of the coaching process and accept accountability for the small steps they set toward achieving their goals. Typically, women will be referred to the Life Coach through the counseling team.

Qualifications

•Certification as a Life Coach, copy of Certificate must be provided to Dream Centers

• Certification recognized by the International Coaching Federation preferred

Ideal for groups of up to 15 people who have a passion for volunteering and for invertebrates. Available Mondays-Fridays from 9:00-12:30, your groups will receive a fun orientation and tour of our zoo, the first AZA accredited invertebrate zoo in the world, before trying out three different volunteer opportunities. You'll get the chance to give back to your community, have a fun time learning about our incredible animals, and stay engaged by trying out a variety of projects.

The All-Stars Club provides a place of belonging centered on fun, friends, and faith for individuals with developmental disabilities, all while parents and caregivers are given the opportunity for respite. We host 3 hour events where individuals with special needs are paired with a volunteer for the duration and get to participate in fun games, activities, crafts, and more!

Field Survey Volunteers help by documenting buildings throughout the city. Using handheld tablets, they photograph individual buildings and note their architectural features. Three-hour shifts are available on weekdays and weekends, so volunteers can sign up for as many shifts as they like. All survey volunteers are trained before they are sent out into the field. We are currently surveying in the neighborhoods of Clayton, Whittier, Five Points and Skyland.

Make a difference in your life and your community and join the Jewish Family Service Citizens chapter of Best Buddies International for adults in their one-to-one friendship program. In the JFS chapter, Jewish adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) become buddies and are matched with Jewish neurotypical adults who become their peer buddies. When you become a buddy, the lasting friendship that develops helps to reduce the social isolation that is frequently associated with individuals with IDD.

Best Buddies International is a program with chapters all over the world.  Jewish Family Service Best Buddies Citizens chapter matches adults with and without IDD in one-to-one friendships that develop and are sustained over many years. The JFS chapter is unique in that Jewish adults are matched with each other with the goal of creating deeper friendships and connections to the Colorado Jewish community and each other.

Research Volunteers research the history of buildings for which we have received tips or that have been identified through field survey as potentially significant. Colorado Resilience (COR) is a newly formed nonprofit organization with a mission to strengthen child and family resilience by encouraging parents who separate or were never together to work together to love, care, and provide for their children. We are seeking candidates to join our Board of Directors.

The Board establishes policy, directs the activities of the organization, and approves budgets. Members govern the overall direction of COR and provide input and resources to the organization’s programs. Participation in a leadership role offers a chance to be a key player in shaping COR’s future and to gain practical leadership experience, along with developing a network of professional contacts.

Board members may serve as officers, Team co-chairs, or appointed representatives. Members serve two-year or three-year terms, with a limit of two terms. The Board meets monthly for 2 hours virtually and can require a time commitment of up six hours monthly.

The IRC in Denver’s Family Mentor program helps to provide additional support to newly-arrived families and individuals by pairing them with a volunteer mentor. The Family Mentor intern will oversee this program and ensure that all clients have access to a Family Mentor and will serve as
a liaison between direct service staff and volunteer mentors.

Time Commitment: 10 hours per week (3 month minimum; 6+ months preferred)

• Ensure all IRC in Denver clients are aware of the Family Mentor program
• Help match volunteer mentors with clients

The Family Stabilization (FSS) intern will help to provide targeted services and assistance to newly-arrived refugee individuals and families while helping to promote social-emotional development and self-sufficiency. Focus areas include severe mental health, domestic violence, child abuse, substance abuse, elder abuse, sexual assault, and suicide ideation.

The IRC in Denver’s Survivors of Torture Project is facilitated under a grant awarded by the U.S.  Department of Health and Human Services/Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). This program provides direct services to survivors of torture (SOTs). The program delivers holistic services to  support survivors and their families in their rehabilitation. Services include in-house case management, psychosocial support and legal services, as well as medical and mental health services provided by referral to community partners. 

Duties: 
• Assist Clinical Case Manager (CCM) in developing action plans for clients following determination meeting  • Assist clients who are ineligible for SoT services get connected to other supportive services internally at  IRC or in the Denver Metro Community  
• Provide psychoeducation to clients related to accessing mental health and physical health services and  client rights related to treatment 
• Support clients in accessing navigation of transportation system to locations for needed community-based  services 
• Work with clients to address personal and sociocultural barriers to accessing services

Due to the sensitive context of the program, supervision is mandatory and will be provided at minimum bi–weekly. Supervision will be provided by the Clinical Case Manager with consultation with the Clinical Care Coordinator as needed. Psychosocial Support Program Interns support holistic and integrated health and wellbeing of IRC clients through the development, modification and assessment of supportive programs. These programs aim to address client needs across a wide spectrum including, but not limited to, acculturation and adjustment, isolation, community relations development and mental / physical wellness. Interns will work directly with the Psychosocial Support Specialist and Wellness Promoter to participate in the coordination of programming, facilitate groups, manage garden and relevant programming facilitated in the garden, assess interpreter needs and develop relevant trainings and supportive programs, build relationships with clients and assess their needs to inform program development, and encourage refugee wellness, empowerment, and resilience.

• Conceptualize and facilitate groups
• Conduct needs assessments to develop or modify programs to ensure that they are consistently meeting the ever-evolving needs of clients
• Maintain relationships with clients, community organizations and host communities in order to facilitate integration
• Management of community garden and relevant programming facilitated in the garden • Assess interpreter needs, develop and facilitate relevant trainings
• Build professional relationships with clients in a culturally sensitive and trauma informed method • Administer and collect wellness data with multiple measurement tools

They will also become familiar with the multidimensional areas of Health and Wellness programming offered by the IRC and in conjunction with community partners. The Health Education Intern will focus on teaching health topics to refugee, SIV and Asylee clients. This may be in the form of home-visits or in group classes. The health education intern will also help in researching health education materials and/or creating new materials that support clients with varying educational backgrounds about how to access health services and how to keep themselves and their families healthy.

• Provide maternal/child health remote learning class to clients who are expecting

The health education intern will learn about Medicaid in Colorado. The health education intern will work closely with the rest of the health team to assist clients with extensive health needs.

The Health Services Intern works in close coordination with the Health Program Coordinator, Health Aide, refugee clients, and local healthcare providers to coordinate and advocate for the healthcare and preventative health needs of refugee, SIV and asylee clients of the International Rescue Committee. Upon arrival to the United States, they face a new set of challenges to effectively navigate the US healthcare system and access important community health resources. The IRC’s economic empowerment programs support refugees and low-income immigrants as they  rebuild their lives in the U.S. The IRC’s programs are built to help newcomers understand the U.S.  financial system—including banking and credit—and to achieve self-sufficiency. The financial  wellbeing intern will help clients achieve basic financial stability, and will help clients learn to grow  their income and assets. The intern will provide both administrative and direct service support.

• Work directly with the financial capability coordinator under the economic empowerment team to  provide financial literacy resources to clients one-on-one and in a group setting

• Outreach to clients to educate them about financial literacy program and loan products; help  coordinate client appointments

The Employment Case Management Intern will support job placement efforts at the IRC in Denver. This  opportunity allows interns to work closely with refugee clients and assist them as they find employment and  enter the U.S. workforce.

• Assist clients with all aspects of job search, including resumes, applications, interview preparation,  bringing clients to interviews, transportation orientation, new hire paperwork, and post-placement follow up.

The English Education Intern will play a vital role in helping clients access English language  resources in their new community. The intern will work closely with the Supplemental Skills Trainer to understand the needs of clients and how to best support them as they learn English.

• Assist newly-arrived refugees to enroll in ESL program throughout the community  • Check-in with clients who have low ESL class attendance and help problem-solve to address the barriers  to better attendance

• Support volunteer ESL tutors as training needs and questions arise  
• Help develop ESL material for clients wanting to learn on their own 
• Partner with current contracted ESL providers and identify additional resources available to clients in their  neighborhoods

The Youth School Family Liaison will work directly with the case management team to help  oversee and coordinate school enrollments for newly arrived families. The intern will also help to  build partnerships with school districts and support families as they learn about the U.S. education  system and how to best access the support they need for their children to be successful.

• Provide updates and raise any concerns during the enrollment process
• Maintain accurate documentation regarding school enrollments and support case management team to case note enrollments

Individuals are welcome to host one too with friends, neighbors, family or anyone else in your circle.

We accept many styles of shoes but no formal wear or flip flops. Shoe donations don't need to be new but do need to be in great condition, clean and ready to wear. If the soles are worn bare or there are holes or are dirty, please find another home for them. We accept shoe sizes from Youth 8 through adult size 17.

Clothe a Child - Change a Life

At CTKD, we give away over 60,000 pairs of new socks and underwear in a year! We can always use help from the community filling our inventory with a great selection of socks and underwear from size 4T through all adult sizes. 

An Undie 500 Challenge is a great fit for businesses, schools, scout troops, sports teams, clubs, religious communities and service organizations wanting to make a BIG difference! Individuals are welcome to host one too with friends, neighbors, family or anyone else in your circle.

Clothe a Child - Change a Life

The Wish of a Lifetime postcard program volunteers attend virtual gatherings each month to write personal messages that spread love to older adults across the country. The postcard program is ideal for groups, families, or individuals who cannot commit to long-term volunteer opportunities, but want to do good for others.

Each month volunteers will write 5 cards to older adults who have recently had their wish granted through Wish of a Lifetime from AARP.

Math tutors provide academic assistance to students in K-12.

Specific Responsibilities

Attend class and tutor student(s) at least once a week for the duration of the school year.
Assist students with homework and activities as directed by the teacher.
Attend tutor training sessions.
Experience and Qualifications

Energy, time, and enthusiasm to work with children
Tutors should be available at least one morning or afternoon each week.

Duration

Minimum one class, once a week for one school year.  

Denver Public Schools Spellbinders Storytellers are a group of passionate volunteers trained in the art of oral storytelling. Spellbinders' mission is to use the art of oral storytelling to enhance literacy, encourage character development and build intergenerational communities.

Each volunteer returns to the same classrooms each month to provide a 20 to 40-minute (depending on the age of the children and the needs of the teacher) oral storytelling session.

The Colorado Consumer Health Initiative (CCHI) is a statewide, non-partisan, non-profit membership organization working so all Coloradans can get affordable, high-quality and equitable health care. CCHI represents 50 nonprofit organizations—mobilizing well over 500,000 consumers—to shape effective health care policy. Our vision is that all Coloradans can access affordable, high-quality and equitable health care.

CCHI’s Consumer Assistance Program was established in 2018 to address the rise in the number of consumers who are facing unfair or unexpected medical bills, medical bills in collections and unaffordable prescription drug costs.

Volunteer Impact

Although most Coloradans now have health insurance coverage, many still struggle with high insurance premiums and unaffordable out-of-pocket costs. Health Insurance Consumer Assistance Volunteers play a critical role by helping Coloradans achieve financial stability by empowering consumers as they navigate the often-frustrating world of health care billing and outrageously priced prescription drug costs.

As an offsite teleradiologist, the primary focus is to provide comprehensive and accurate reading of approximately 40 OB/GYN ultrasound studies per month in collaboration with the Women’s Clinic providers and Sonographer to determine patient diagnosis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Access Athena EMR to obtain patient history, and any dictated Provider/Sonographer notes regarding the ultrasound.

Read and interpret the outcomes of GYN and occasional early OB size and dates ultrasound images.

Dictate diagnosis, and report recommendations for future treatment in the patient's EMR.

Collaborate with both the Medical Providers and or Sonographer when needed regarding ultrasound studies that may be in question.

Natural Resource Volunteers are responsible for assisting with the upkeep of the Standley Lake Regional Park and keeping the park a healthy wildlife reservation. Volunteers will help out with year-round maintenance of the Standley Lake pollinator garden and noxious weed mitigation for species like Russian olive trees and teasel and litter and fishing line collection at Standley Lake and various open space properties. Volunteers will work alongside other volunteers and/or staff to complete these projects.

Volunteer surrounded by nature and beauty! Become a Volunteer Program Naturalist at Standley Lake Regional Park and Wildlife Refuge.

Volunteers interested in education can assist the full time Park Naturalist with nature programs for patrons of all ages as well as large school or summer camp programs. The Program Naturalist Volunteer will be trained to be comfortable and knowledgeable about the program prior to the program date. Leading table talks is another option for those interested in being a Program Naturalist Volunteer. The volunteer will have a table set up near a popular trail with educational materials such as pelts, skulls, magnifying glasses, photos and/or binoculars to educate patrons who stop by. Part of this position is making friendly contact with park patrons and establishing a presence on the trails and throughout the park. Program Naturalist Volunteers also have the opportunity to lead or co-lead a public program if there is an environmental topic they know well.

As a Benefit Navigator, you will be assisting members of the community access much-needed healthcare and nutrition benefits. Volunteers are trained to help with one or more of the following applications: Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Connect for Health Colorado. 

Volunteers may work onsite at BIA offices or at offsite locations with our community partners. In-person locations in the Denver-metro area, Colorado Springs, and Boulder. Volunteers may also work remotely from home.

Volunteer Navigators are required to pass background screening, HIPAA and Internet Security training annually, and all program-related training requirements (4-30 hours) and shadowing prior to being assigned clients. 

You will gain valuable knowledge and skills while assisting your neighbors to access the benefits they need. We ask volunteers to commit to 3-4 hours weekly for a minimum of 6 months. 

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are interested in becoming a part of the Miners Alley Performing Arts Center Volunteer Program. We ask our volunteers to make a commitment to ushering five to six times per year. That means that you would usher one night every 10 weeks or so (a total of 5-6 times per year). Volunteers must attend 2-hour training prior to volunteering. In return, you get to enjoy high quality, Live Theater performances for free!

At CTKD, we give free school clothes to students in need or in crisis. We have 30 collection bins placed across the metro area that the community uses to help us fill our boutique with great quality clothing. Hosting a Community Collection Bin is an ongoing opportunity to pass along gently used clothing and give the items directly to someone who really needs them. Donated clothing items are turned around quickly and often go home with a family within a few days of being donated.

At our boutique, we provide a warm and welcoming, retail-like setting where students can select the wardrobe pieces that meet their needs. Each student receives a wardrobe that is a week's worth of school clothes - 21 pieces - and it is all FREE. In a year, we give away over 10,000 wardrobes to students around the Denver Metro area. We cannot do this work without strong community support so thank you for helping make this happen!

Bin Champion Role

To support our mission on an ongoing basis, individuals or groups can sponsor a bin at their location. Hosting a bin comes with some responsibilities that are great fit for schools, civic organizations and businesses. We ask the volunteers serving as Bin Champions to...

Promote the bin in your community or business newsletter, social media outlets or any other communication channels.  You will receive regular updates from CTKD about our greatest needs and current events. Share our Donation Guidelines so your donors give items suitable for our purposes.

Advocate for CTKD in your community. Educate everyone - customers, families, participants, members - about our mission with the goal of collecting as much high-quality clothing as possible. As a bonus, you also get the word out that we are here to help families who may need us.  

Collect clothing regularly by making the bin easily accessible. Our boutique stocks a wide selection of stylish, high quality, gently used clothing so all clothing donations need to be in great condition, current styles appealing to kids and teens, clean and ready to wear.

Deliver your donations to the CTKD store. Empty the bin as often as necessary but at least once a month. 

Bin Dimensions & Placement

The dimensions of the bin are 48" tall and 24" square. It is on wheels and easy to move. It is made of metal but is not weatherproof and intended for indoor use. There may be some cases when it can be outdoors if it is well protected from the elements and secure. These are exceptions. The bin can be placed for a period of a minimum of 3 months up to 12 months or more. We will work with you to determine what the best time frame is.

GOBRP is looking for one or two individuals who are interested in working on the board of directors.  Meetings are quarterly on the second Tuesday of the month.  Board members should have an interest in bicycles and the Golden Community and surrounding areas (Arvada, Lakewood, Morrison, ...). Board members will help determine educational and community activities that center around getting bikes to people who need them.

Los mentores de Prosperar se emparejan 1: 1 con un graduado de nuestro Campamento de entrenamiento de lanzamiento empresarial para ayudarlos a superar los obstáculos comerciales normales y hacer crecer su negocio. Los mentores se emparejan según el área de necesidad específica de los emprendedores.

Mentor del Acelerador de Prosperidad Empresarial

Los mentores del Acelerador de Prosperidad Empresaria apoyan a los graduados de Boot Camp: Lanza Tu Negocio a través de un programa de 10 semanas orientado hacia el aprendizaje continuo y el crecimiento empresarial sostenible a largo plazo. Los mentores ayudarán a los emprendedores a aplicar el material de clase a sus negocios y mantenerse al día con sus Proyectos Finales individualizados.

Compromiso de tiempo: 1-4 horas/semana durante 10 semanas

¡Comparta su experiencia empresarial, financiera o de desarrollo profesional para apoyar a los propietarios de pequeños negocios en nuestra comunidad!

Los proveedores de talleres comparten su experiencia ayudando a diseñar, dirigir y facilitar talleres para los participantes actuales y graduados de nuestro Boot Camp: Lanza tu Negocio. Los talleres se llevan a cabo durante todo el año y se pueden ofrecer una sola vez o de forma continua.

The Ronald McDonald House Family Room is located within the new Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at Presbyterian St. Luke's. Volunteers assist in the smooth operation of the Ronald McDonald Family Room ensuring it is a comfortable sanctuary for families of hospitalized children.

As a pet owner, you know how much joy they can bring to you. How about sharing that joy with the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House and join our Dog Therapy team! This opportunity will be available weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on your schedule. Shifts are available at both our Denver and Aurora locations.

We are looking for some volunteers to assist with the Lory State Park Environmental Education programs happening in May. Environmental Education volunteers will have the opportunity to work with Lory State Park staff to provide a range of educational programs and activities to school groups. This month we have the following opportunities.

May 10th- Irish Elementary

May 11th- Dunn Elementary

May 18th- Milliken Elementary

May 24th - Pioneer Ridge

Do you have time to make a few calls to isolated seniors in our community? Serving in our Connectedness program might be a good fit for you!

The Connectedness Caller program serves to reduce isolation and improve mental wellness among our community members. Volunteers make regular calls to an assigned set of clients to check in and ensure they are well. 

All training is provided by Benefits in Action or our affiliates. 

Onboarding and Training Requirements:

Time Commitment:

Volunteers are asked to commit to 2-3 hours weekly for a minimum of 6 months. 

Want to help reduce hunger in our community? Volunteers are needed to assist at our warehouse with sorting and packing fresh and non-perishable food. Boxes are then delivered to home-bound individuals and families in need of extra nutrition. 

Volunteers must be able to work in unheated and uncooled warehouse conditions and lift a minimum of 20 pounds. Volunteers must also wear close-toed shoes and bring a water bottle. 

Volunteers help on Wednesday-Saturday mornings. Youth are welcome to help with adult supervisors - please contact us for more information. We encourage individuals and teams to sign up!
