Volunteer: Volunteer Advocate

Our Volunteer Advocates work directly supporting survivors and loved ones on our 24-hour hotline. Our 24-hour Crisis Hotline provides support and information to survivors of sexual assault and sexual violence. Volunteer Advocates are trained in crisis intervention, emotional support, advocacy skills and referrals to local community resources. Because calls are confidentially patched through to any number the advocate likes, working on the hotline is an incredibly flexible way to make a very direct impact. Previous experience with advocacy work is not required, though we require hotline advocates to attend our 40-hour hotline training and commit to picking up 4 shifts (6 hours each) per month for at least a year.

Sexual Violence impacts us all and as an advocate you will find immense meaning in supporting survivors directly on the hotline and make an immediate impact in your community. Our volunteers often say that the skills and experience they gain from this role help them in all areas of their personal and professional life. The connections you make in this program last a lifetime.

Volunteers would need to be there from 11:30am-1:30pm.  Dance experience is appreciated but not required.  The tasks are as follows:

SET UP  Prop back door for those entering from back  Arrange chairs in a circle, move cart out of the way off to one side Set up additional chairs against wall next to both entrances to the studio for personal belongings to be stowed by dancers  Close curtains in front of mirrors  DURING CLASS Demonstrate seated version of movement and other modifications throughout class  Help create a welcoming and supportive environment by greeting everyone, building relationships, and reminding everyone you’re there to assist and learn how best to support them throughout class  Dance your heart out from a seated position even if nobody else is using a chair. This makes it easier for someone to join you from a seated position if they’re not alone to begin with. Keep an eye out for anyone who might be struggling.  Offer support as you see fit, remind them of Sarah’s office as a rest space, encourage them to modify and reassure them of their gold star just for showing up  Close back door during stretch break  Assist with moving of chairs throughout class (monitoring if anyone wants help with chairs, not assuming)  AFTER CLASS After class, prop back door and assist anyone to their cars as needed Strike chairs and put back on the cart and cover with black table covering, move cart “home” against piano wall and place signage on top of cart Open curtains Lights out

This is a wonderful group of people and dance class is FUN and has great music.  You can learn more about class and watch videos at this link https://www.artasaction.org/reconnect/class/

Please email sarah@artasaction.org if you are interested.  We are building a team of volunteers, so it wouldn't necessarily be every week.

Volunteer: Join Our Board!

The Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center, established in 2020, showcases the coupling of clean energy and agricultural activities to educate and inspire our community to take action to promote land stewardship within solar arrays. Our 2024 goals are to 1) empower and facilitate  pportunities
for farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses to work within and adopt agrivoltaics, 2) create a policy environment at the state and local levels that enables, prioritizes, and incentivizes agrivoltaics, and 3) provide education to students and the community showcasing the benefits of agrivoltaics as a solution to our food, water, and energy challenges. Our Advisory Board is made up of specialists in their fields who use their expertise and network to support the goals of our organization.

Agrivoltaics is the utilization of microclimates created by solar panels to improve the stewardship of the land beneath them. Agrivoltaics consists of agricultural jobs, livestock, crops, herbs, berries, or soil health activities to benefit ecosystem services underneath and around solar arrays. Solar array system redesigns and construction practices that increase the height of solar panels, improve the security of electrical wires, and do not degrade lands during installation significantly contribute to enabling agrivoltaics.

In 2024, we are looking to add five new advisory board members to our organization with each board member specializing in at least one of the following different categories:
- Agriculture (Farming / Ranching)
- Land Use Planning
- Tourism
- Solar Energy Industry
- Philanthropy / Fundraising
- Banking / Finance
- Colorado University System
- State of Colorado Policymaking / Public Utilities Commission
- Finance / Accounting
- Human Resources

Expectations of advisory board members are to attend the scheduled two-hour quarterly meetings (for 2024 they are at 1pm on May 21,  August 20, and November 19), engage with Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center staff in your specialty area at least once a month, and help connect staff to your network to achieve the goals of our organization.

Prospective advisory board members are encouraged to submit a brief application consisting of a recent resume and a short (no more than one page) letter stating their interest in and how they plan to support our organization.

Applications are due by February 29th, 2024 and to be submitted via email to info@coagrivoltaic.org.

Volunteer: Youth Workshop Facilitator (BIPOC/LGBTQIA+ Encouraged)

WHO WE ARE

The Mission of Art from Ashes is to empower struggling youth by providing creative programs that facilitate health and hope through expression, connection and transformation.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Those of the BIPOC community and those identifying as LGBTQIA+ are strongly encouraged to apply.

Art from Ashes workshop facilitators are not teachers, coaches or therapists (or even necessarily artists/poets). The youth are doing the work of creating, we are simply there as facilitators--holding a safe space for expression and delivering our award-winning curriculum. The transformational curriculum guides the youth through the process of expression, connection and transformation (please visit our website for more information on the Art from Ashes transformative creative process: www.artfromashes.org).

Our Phoenix Rising youth empowerment program uses poetry and spoken word to help struggling youth, typically age 14 to 24, develop an awareness of their creative genius and their power to find hope and promise in their lives.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING is required and depending on ability and intention, facilitators have the opportunity to move into a paid position within the agency.

Above all, an Art from Ashes youth empowerment facilitator must be sensitive to the issues that confront struggling youth, and must have an understanding of the organization’s transformational and artistic process, as well as our core values and mission statement.

Due to the sensitive nature of the program and the abandonment issues of the population with which we work, your consistency and commitment is a requirement to work with youth.

Volunteer: Social Media Guru

WHO WE ARE
The Mission of Art from Ashes is to empower struggling youth by providing creative programs that facilitate health and hope through expression, connection and transformation.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

This volunteer position can evolve into a paid contracted position based on skill, commitment and consistency.

We’re looking for a social media guru to grow our followers, engage, and retain them, and hopefully move some of them to donate, volunteer and/or spread the word about our creative empowerment programs for youth. We would need someone who has command of best practices and trends in social media marketing, enjoys being creative, and understands how to build a digital audience. We also (and this is very important) need someone who can balance our often irreverent wit with our sincere and serious approach to the issues faced by young people.

The Communications Team provides consultation and support for all agency communications to stakeholders about our work in the community with young people. This consists of communicating agency news, events, occasional poetry prompts, creation of youth poetry/art memes, videos, adult/youth creative workshop promotion, community engagement and fundevelopment.

The Team uses the following methods to communicate both internally and externally: Website Constant Contact Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn.
