The Need:
In Colorado's Jefferson County, over 30,000 children benefit from subsidized meals at school. However, some of these children may encounter empty cupboards at home, at night and over the weekend, leading to instances of hunger.
Who We Are:
We operate as a mobile grocery, providing weekly assistance to over 30 schools, Section 8 apartments, Rec Centers and Libraries in Jefferson County throughout the year; including the summer months.
Description:
- Help Jeffco Eats deliver food bags to local libraries (Belmar, Golden and Arvada)
- Sign up to deliver totes from Warehouse to Libraries
- Time commitment: 1 day a week
- We deliver about 40 food bags to 3 libraries, once a week
- You will be given all the needed information for each library
- Dollies and wagons are used to load and unload the food bags
- No special qualifications needed
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
- Ability to drive, load and unload your own vehicle.
- Available weekly.
- Wear casual/comfy work clothes, close-toed shoes and work gloves are highly recommended.
