We are in need of adult volunteers to serve as personal shoppers working directly with the families we serve. We are looking for volunteers to serve regularly on a monthly schedule. We expect volunteers to commit to 3 months (3 hours/month = 9 hours total).
In this role, volunteers will greet shoppers, help them find the school clothes they need for their children and check them out when done shopping. This is a customer service position that requires a great deal of empathy, kindness and patience with our families who often are in challenging circumstances and sometimes don't speak English. Our goal is to provide a welcoming and safe place for families to shop so it is essential that our store is judgment free.
On any given day, volunteers may also
- Sort, tag and hang clothing donations.
- Greet clothing donors.
- Assemble wardrobes for our curbside service.
- Keep the store organized and tidy which may include straightening clothing racks, sorting hangers, and taking out the recycling.
- Help with other needs or special projects.
Volunteers should be prepared to stand for the duration of their shift. Comfortable shoes are important. Physical activities include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting less than 30 pounds.
About Clothes To Kids of Denver
At CTKD, we give free school clothes to students in-need or in-crisis. Our goal is to help students in preschool through 12th grade have the clothing they need to feel comfortable, confident and prepared to thrive. We know that when students are dressed in clothes that they feel good about, they are more likely to attend school, participate in classroom activities and make positive connections with their classmates.
Our store stocks a wide selection of high quality, gently used clothing donated by the community. Students get to "shop" in a warm and welcoming space where they can select the seasonal and stylish wardrobe pieces that meet their needs. Each wardrobe is a week's worth of school clothes - 21 pieces - and it is all FREE. Our goal is always to reach as many students as we can. This year we are helping over 13,000 students receive the clothing they need to dress for success. We cannot do this work without strong community support so thank you for helping make this happen!
