Volunteer: Jeffco Eats Volunteer Driver (Tuesday or Thursday)

The Need:

In Colorado's Jefferson County, over 30,000 children benefit from subsidized meals at school. However, some of these children may encounter empty cupboards at home, at night, and over the weekend, leading to instances of hunger. 

 

Who We Are:

We operate as a mobile grocery, providing weekly assistance to over 30 schools and Section 8 apartments in Jefferson County throughout the year (including Summer months)

 

Event Description:

Help Jeffco Eats deliver our Tuesday and/or Thursday school orders 1-2 times a month! Time commitment: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm We deliver to 10-12 different pre-arranged schools each day. Dollies and wagons are used to load and unload the food orders. You will be given a printed delivery schedule with all the needed information to contact each school with an ETA and what you will be delivering. No special driver’s license is needed. Insurance coverage is provided.

 

Volunteer Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 30lbs. Ability to drive, load and unload a 14 ft truck. Available Tuesday or Thursday mornings between 8am-12pm Wear casual/comfy work clothes, close-toed shoes, and work gloves are highly recommended.

As a Warehouse Volunteer, you will be an essential part of our team, helping to facilitate operations and ensure distribution of food to families in need. This position involves unloading and organizing food inventory, packing 'Totes for Hope' and pantry boxes going out to our schools and maintaining a clean and efficient warehouse environment. 

 

This role provides a hands-on opportunity to make a tangible difference in the fight against food insecurity in our community.

 

Volunteer Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Available during the week; Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  Time commitment: 2-4 hours. Wear casual/comfy work clothes, close-toed shoes and work gloves are highly recommended.

At our mobile food market, we are dedicated to providing food security to students and families in our community. As a strategic year-round weekend food program provider in partnership with the Food Bank of Rockies ‘Totes of HopeTM’ ; our mission is to ensure no child in Jefferson County goes hungry over the weekends. 

 

We are a unique mobile grocery providing a variety of food choices. We are culturally sensitive, serving minority families with requested items and providing an array of resources including shelf stable items, fresh produce, snacks, and summer weekend food.

 

Our programs extend to Lakewood, Edgewater, Wheat Ridge, and Arvada, Colorado, serving not just the students but also their families.

 

Position Overview:

As a Faith Based Liaison for Jeffco Eats, you will play a critical role in our mission and the success of our programs. You will meet with faith based organizations to explain our mobile food program and the value it brings, as well as, coordinate the distribution of totes via these locations. This position offers a chance to be an active part of a solution to address food insecurity in our community. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Relationship Management: Organize and maintain a master list of contacts, including email, phone, liaison schedules and backup contacts. Work to identify local organizations to partner with - establish a process for quickly identifying an organizations’ interest and capacity to partner. Ensure continuous relationship with liaisons across faith based organizations. Brainstorm and implement multi-channel strategy for strengthening partnerships and soliciting feedback on a regular basis to help grow the program.

 

Resource Distribution: Partner with Operations Manager to ensure successful distribution of totes to partner locations; work with leadership team to plan for scale and accelerate impact ; reach to families through these distribution centers.

 

Fundraising: Engage organizations; foster relationships to support fundraising activities such as hosting or participating in a Food Drive, promoting seasonal donation campaigns, etc. 

 

Advertising and Education: Create communication campaigns to promote and educate faith based organizations and their constituents about mobile groceries, food safety, etc.  Assist with the planning and coordination of promotional opportunities for and within these organizations; such as pitching Jeffco Eats on sundays mornings and other times of worship, advertising in bulletins, etc. 

 

Miscellaneous Tasks: Assist in other tasks such as coordinating with drivers, managing pop up markets, performing administrative duties, and representing Jeffco Eats at faith based events.

 

Qualifications:

Strong communication / relationship building skills; persuasive, assertive, outgoing. 

Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Experience working within; navigating faith based organizations.

Passion for food security and community service.
