Volunteer: Be a Hunger Fighter!

Our Mission:

We work with community to meet people’s immediate need for nutritious food while working to address hunger at its root.

 

Volunteer Roles:

Volunteers play a vital role in Metro Caring's success and the impact that we are able to provide with our community. Here is a list of volunteer positions for our fresh foods market.

The Front End: Front end Volunteers are the first point of contact with excellent customer service skills for community members. Bilingual volunteers are needed. Food Access (Market): Market Volunteers are involved in our fresh foods market experience. The roles range from customer service and stationary to active and lifting. Food Access (Warehouse): Warehouse Volunteers work directly with all our food that is coming in. These roles ensure the quality of the food we are distributing to community.

If you have any questions, please email Volunteer Coordinator, Beatrice at bchavez@metrocaring.org Sign-up and Attend our Mandatory New Volunteer Orientation (Link to sign-up within Volunteer Intake From). We host orientation on Thursdays and the second Tuesday of every month. It is held at Metro Caring; we are on the corner of 18th & Downing--1100 E.18th Ave. Denver CO 80218. Once you have attended orientation, sign-up to volunteer using our Job Calendar on our website!

Volunteer: Nutrition Volunteer

We are looking for people who are interested in helping our Nutrition Team keep the kitchen clean and adequately prepared for use by community members, cooking classes, and community partners. This is a non-traditional volunteer role that can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour on a daily basis.

You will:

Complete kitchen opening checklist each morning, Monday to Friday. Complete kitchen closing checklist each afternoon, Monday to Friday.

 

The hours for this role can be adjusted to meet the volunteers needs. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for a shift once a week or multiple times a week as well as pair this role with a traditional volunteering shift in the Market/Warehouse.
