Who We Are
The Master’s Apprentice is a faith-based nonprofit offering a 6-week pre-apprenticeship program designed to help motivated individuals from low-income backgrounds start rewarding careers in trades such as Carpentry, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Renewable Energy and more.
The Master’s Apprentice's classes are taught by volunteer 'coaches' who work with students one-on-one to build their confidence and set them up for success! Our coaches need not have trade industry background - their life experience has a profound impact on our students. The Master's Apprentice staff provides lesson plans, a mentor coach, and plenty of support for coaches throughout the program.
What We Do
The Master’s Apprentice is a tuition-free, 6-week, full-time training program that prepares students with:
- Exposure to a variety of high-paying construction trades to help with career path discernment
- Soft skill classes like work ethics, construction math, financial literacy, and career prep to give them the confidence to enter a career in the skilled trades
- Professional resume writing assistance and certifications to turn rejected applications into accepted interviews
- Insider connections to help students get their foot in the door
- Hands-on labs and employer-hosted site visits to explore different careers in the skilled trades
- Job placement support
Here's what a few of our coaches had to say about volunteering with The Master's Apprentice:
- "Helping these young people achieve their full potential is an overwhelming high. It surpasses everything that I accomplished in my career." Coach Robin
- "My payday is watching the students graduate. Watching these young men and women walk across the stage, looking at their faces, some have been so discouraged, told all their lives that they cannot do something. To have helped them succeed is very gratifying." - Coach Richie
- "This is your opportunity to make a difference in students' lives. You will receive so many more blessings from this program than what you give." - Coach Greg
