Who We Are
In 1970 a group of community members created an organization to advocate for the historic buildings of Denver. The first effort for the newly formed Historic Denver was to save the Molly Brown House, restore and open it as a museum. Fifty-three years later, we are still advocating for Denver’s historic fabric. Our current work highlights stories from Denver’s part, assists and empowers community members to create neighborhood initiatives, and shares the story of Margaret “Molly” Brown.
What We Do
Historic Denver, Inc. (HDI) identifies, shares, and advocates for Denver’s historic places. At the heart of this work is place-based storytelling, including at the Molly Brown House Museum (MBHM), which HDI was founded to save in 1970. Our mission is to empower people to actively experience and thoughtfully maintain our city’s cultural landmarks and historic places, with a vision to ensure that historic places and the stories they tell are relevant long into the future. We do this through tours, educational programs and a citywide survey of historic places.
