Who We Are
At Spark the Change Colorado, we are a community of innovators, connectors and collaborators. Our mission is to spark change and inspire a movement of good through the power of service, volunteerism, and civic engagement. We help volunteers, nonprofits, and companies connect to meaningful service and learning that makes a lasting impact.
We operate a Senior Companion Program- a National Service program of AmeriCorps Seniors- in many locations across the state.
What We Do
This vital program is part of AmeriCorps Seniors, a national service government agency. The Senior Companion Program engages individuals aged 55 and over to realize the independence of older adults in their home and as a team, continue to be vibrant, contributing members of our communities. Volunteers provide services to their companion including transportation, help with groceries, social activities, and more. We serve in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas, Huerfano, Jefferson, Las Animas and Pueblo counties.
This program is designed to engage people as volunteers who are: 55 years or over, willing to volunteer 5-40 hours a week for at least one year, pass a background check, and complete training and orientation. Senior Companion Volunteers living on a limited income receive a modest, nontaxable $4.00/hr stipend.
